CISPR 14-2

Household Appliances, Electric Tools And Similar Apparatus: Immunity – Product family standard (CISPR 14-2)

This part of CISPR specifies the electromagnetic immunity requirements in the frequency range 0 Hz to 400 GHz that apply to appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus as specified below, whether powered by AC or DC (including a battery). It specifies immunity requirements for continuous and transient electromagnetic disturbances, both conducted and radiated.

Examples of the equipment relating to this Standard is listed Below:

  • 1) Household appliances or similar apparatus
    • a. Equipment used for typical housekeeping functions in the household environment, which includes the dwelling and its associated buildings, the garden, etc.
    • b. Equipment used for typical housekeeping functions in shops, offices, commercial and other similar working environments.
    • c. Equipment used on farms.
    • d. Equipment used by clients in hotels and other residential type environments.
    • e. Equipment used for induction cooking or air conditioning, either in residential or commercial environments.
  • 2) Electric tools
    • a. Examples include electric motor-operated or electromagnetically driven hand-held tools, transportable tools, lawn and garden machinery
  • 3) Similar apparatus
    • a. external power controllers using semiconductor devices
    • b. motor-driven electro-medical equipment
    • c. electric/electronic toys
    • d. personal care and beauty care appliances
    • e. automatic goods-dispensing machines
    • f. entertainment machines
    • g. cine or slide projectors
    • h. battery chargers and external power supplies for use with products under the scope of this document
    • i. electric fence energisers

Microwave ovens for home use or catering are likewise covered by the scope of CISPR 14-2. The scope of CISPR 14-2 includes equipment with radio transmit/receive capabilities. NOTE: Refer to Clause 8 for guidance on how to handle situations involving equipment covered by CISPR 14-2 that also performs send and/or receive radio functions.

These items (listed below) aren't covered by CISPR 14-2 scope:

  • - equipment for which all electromagnetic immunity requirements are explicitly formulated in other CISPR or IEC standards;
  • - equipment for which all electromagnetic immunity requirements are explicitly formulated in other CISPR or IEC standards;
  • - medical electrical equipment, including those within the scope of CISPR 14-1; - equipment used only in industrial environment;
  • - equipment intended to be a part of a building's fixed electrical installation (such as fuses, circuit breakers, cables, and switches);
  • - medical electrical equipment, including those covered by CISPR 14-1; - equipment used only in an industrial environment;
  • - equipment intended to be used only in locations where special electromagnetic compatibility

AC single-phase equipment and AC multi-phase equipment with rated voltage higher than 480 V and voltage heigher than 250 V between phase and neutral, respectively, are also not included in the scope of CISPR 14-2. It is not taken into account when the equipment behaves abnormally, such as when the electric circuitry is subjected to simulated malfunctions for testing purposes.

Accutest Can support compliance EMC testing for equipment listed in CISPR-14-2. The tests that we can support currently are listed below
